BCCI
secretary Jaywant Lele announced at a press conference that the selectors
have retained Ganguly as the skipper of the Indian team till the end of
the Zimbabwe series. The selection committee, present here for the
Zimbabwe tour opener against the National Cricket Academy (N C A), had a
meeting to discuss a range of issues, one of which was the retention of
Ganguly as captain for the two Tests and three One-dayers against the
visitors. The other issues discussed in the meeting were not made public.
Ganguly would stay as the captain would be till the end of the
series since there might be a lull in India’s international calendar if
the tour to Pakistan does not materialise. In that case, Lele told the
press, it would not be wise to rush into a long-term decision at the
moment. |
